Tourism

Within the municipality of Castro Marim, points of interest include various beaches, the Guadiana River, the national forest, the traditional town of Cacela Velha, the village of Santa Rita, and a state-of-the-art sports complex.

In addition to visiting neighbouring municipalities, there are various activity options for a holiday or short break, from safaris to tours in the Ria Formosa or along the Guadiana, birdwatching, or visits to theme parks. Several world-acclaimed golf courses are located just a few kilometres from the hotel – Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima, Quinta do Vale, and Monte Rei – and tee times can be booked at reception. Staying at Octant Praia Verde, you can also take advantage of the proximity to coastal areas such as Altura, Monte Gordo, and Cacela Velha.

ALGARVE

Often referred to as the “door to Europe”, largely due to its location at the south-westernmost point of the continent, the Algarve is also one of Portugal’s most important tourist destinations.

Famous for its immense and pleasant coastline, the Algarve offers the possibility to visit beaches that are considered, by many, the best in Europe. The Octant Praia Verde is located a mere 800 meters from a most beautiful beach, clearly one of the hotel’s highlights.

TAVIRA

Tavira (20 km away), also known as the “Venice of the Algarve”. The Gilão River runs through the city, with several bridges and crossings connecting both sides, including a Roman bridge dating back to the medieval period.

Tavira is also known for its many churches and chapels. Other attractions include Ilha de Tavira beach, the Palácio da Galeria, the nearby town of Vila Real de Santo António and its 18th-century town centre, as well as the opportunity to rent a boat and travel up the Guadiana along unspoilt riverbanks.
